Anxiety Disorders can occur in children and young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Identification and treatment of the symptoms can be challenging. Objectives of this webinar include:

  • Define diagnosis of anxiety disorders as described by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5)
  • Identify symptoms in people with ASD
  • Discuss treatment of different anxiety disorders

Presenter: Dr. Sonal Moratschek is Board-certified in child, adolescent and adult psychiatry. She earned her medical degree from Wright State University and both her bachelor's degree and master's degree in public health from Case Western Reserve University. She completed her general psychiatry training and child and adolescent fellowship at University Hospitals of Cleveland, where she was chief resident and chief child fellow. Dr. Moratschek is the Medical Director of Wingspan Care Group, and a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry. She has published extensively on child and adolescent mental health issues. Her specific areas of interest are in mood and anxiety disorders in adolescence, caring for children with autism, and treatment of mental illness in young women. She believes in a team approach to treating the whole child and family.
