Monarch provides a comprehensive living and learning environment for children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Our innovative Monarch School and Monarch Boarding Academy (MBA) are grounded in a visual language immersion treatment Model that is respectful, empowering and kind.
Our professionals are focused on the creation of a positive cycle of learning. We empower our students by enabling communication. Monarch students learn to voice their needs, connect others to their experiences and comment on their environment and life. The Monarch Model allows students to achieve their maximum potential as learners, and ultimately, as members of their families and communities. (Please read our anti-bullying policy.)
To improve the daily quality of life for children with autism and their families.
For most children, language does not need to be explicitly taught. Rather, it is simply acquired through exposure to a language-rich environment. For children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), an inability to acquire language skills in this manner is the hallmark of this disorder. At Monarch Center for Autism, we believe that the most effective way to teach children with ASD how to learn and communicate is to combine explicit language instruction with structured visual supports.
Research & Evidence Basis
Monarch School’s philosophy for teaching children on the autism spectrum is based on research and evidence. Its curriculum relies heavily on the use of visual supports and technology and has been shaped by research literature. The school’s objective, which is aligned with the National Academy of Science’s guidelines for educating children on the autism spectrum, is to build knowledge and life skills by adapting to the individual needs of each of its students.
